The State of Delaware contracts with Easterseals and other providers to deliver services to adults with I/DD. Unfortunately, the reimbursement rate in current contracts is only $14.11/hour for the wages of Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) who deliver the daily care to these adults. Even though Easterseals and other providers pay more, it puts strain on the budget and leaves nonprofit providers understaffed and with high staff turnover rates.

We are happy to report that with the approval of the Delaware FY25 budget, the reimbursement rates for the wages of Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) who work in day and residential services for adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities will be increased.
We want to thank everyone who joined our advocacy campaign and took the time to contact their legislators by email or phone to voice support for increased funding for DSPs. Many thanks to the members of the Delaware General Assembly and Governor Carney for responding to the advocacy of Easterseals, along with the Ability Network of Delaware and A-Team Delaware.
