Meet Chris

NIXANDRA: Chris is an incredible kid He's very energetic and happy He loves to play with cars listen to music spend time with his family friends He's very funny He's very social He love talking with people Even though he cannot talk like us but he you know like he makes sounds and people make it back to him and he just start laughing He's a funny boy I love being a parent of Chris because all the accomplishment that he made It's an amazing you know seeing the progress every day that he do is just amazing NOELLE: Christian's benefited from physical therapy Looking at we've been trying to increase his flexibility in his muscles his balance his mobility skills his ability to move around get in and out of sitting get in and out of different positions Big push has been uh pushing for standing and walking and getting him ready for walking DR JO: In early intervention speech therapy is different You It's functional You go where the child is and then build up from there So it's multi-faceted communication is what we look at We do multiple levels depending on where the child is and what they need Speech therapy has helped Christian be able to make his wants and needs known He's able to verbally and or non-verbally tell people what he wants to do NOELLE: I like working at Easterseals It offers a collaborative approach I love working with the speech therapists and the occupational therapists and behavior and just trying to figure things out There's opportunities here to be as creative and fun for the kids DR JO: I come to work because it's fun It's the best job I get to develop new things for the children to work with and for them to learn NIXANDRA: Easterseals is just is like a family to us I love how happy he gets when he wake up and he knows that he going to school He love it Easterseals us to see him all that progress that he did It's part of us already It's like a family to us Yeah It's more than a school
