Meet Cameron

Meet Cameron and his parents and learn how Easterseals is making a difference.

MARLEE: Cameron is almost 3 years old he'll be three at the end of June he is diagnosed with Down syndrome and he is a light to this world. FRANK: it's impossible to have a bad day around him i mean you could have the worst day at work and I come home and you hear that giggle when you walk in the door and that's it's irreplaceable there nothing can top it. MARLEE: so with Cameron's diagnosis Easterseals is something that has been a part of our family since the beginning Cameron started with physical therapy when he was just 3 months old with Easterseals the therapists were just so lovely and so accommodating to us i thought that they were able to let me learn how to be a mom and how to care for a kid with special needs. EILEEN: he has always been very happy with sitting so we had to motivate him early on to move babies learn through movement especially in the first 12 months of life so if a baby is having trouble moving for various reasons they don't get to explore the way a typically developing baby would explore interesting thing about him though is he did want to move he just couldn't figure out how to do it and before he could walk he could ride a balance bike i've never had a kid that could do this so to me it was he wanted to move he just couldn't figure out how to put all the pieces together and another reason why development is so important i love working for Easterseals i've been there for 29 years now i love the camaraderie the sense of community that I get from the people that I work with and I'm a physical therapist i've got physical therapists around me but I also have OT's and speech therapists i never feel alone when I'm working with a child so that that is a really important aspect of having Easterseals as my family as my community MARLEE: I really credit to the fantastic people of Easterseals that have given us all of their time and effort to everything that he's accomplished I think that is so important that rapport that you have with these people you have you trust them with your kid and helping them meet their goals and I think it's they've done a fantastic job and we're forever thankful for Easterseals
